Say buh-bye to Blush and hello to Lavender. Pastel colors are a common theme in this year’s Spring/Summer 2018 collections, but for a change (finally), soft pinks are sitting second row. Last December, the Pantone Color Institute pushed Millennial Pink aside and named Ultra Violet the 2018 Color of the Year, and since, hues of purple have been prominent in everything from fashion to interior design. Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, describes the color as “dramatically provocative” and says it “communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking.”
Well, Mrs. Pressman… I agree! I was lucky enough to attend NYFW in February and got the chance to check out shows like Tadashi Shoji, Dan Liu, Christian Cowan, and my personal favorite, Tibi. Here are some of my favorite looks seen on the runways:

I didn’t want to wait until the trending color made its way to stores this Spring. I was ready to start rocking lavender right away. I found a super soft lavender sweater at Intermix in early March for a Beaver Creek vacation, and have been adding additional pieces to my wardrobe over the past few months.
Whether you want to incorporate the color into your work-wear, or your weekend-wear, you’ll find plenty of options as you shop the stores or the web. Even if lavender just isn’t the best color for your complexion, you can still pick-up shoes or handbags to stay on-trend. I’m obviously loving lavender, and have rounded up some of my favorites to get you started.
Style Tip: For an easy, breezy look, pair your purples with solid white clothing and accessories. For those of you who are a bit bolder with your fashion choices, try color blocking with darker orchid and amethyst shades.
xoxo,
Stay Sauci
